PALCUS Annual Congressional Reception
and Meetings
October 25 and 26, 2017

The Annual PALCUS Congressional Reception was held on Wednesday, October 25 in the John D. Dingell Room, Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill. It was attended by several members of the Portuguese-American Caucus in the House of Representatives and of the Friends of Portugal in the Senate, PALCUS directors, PALCUS members and key influencers. 


Attendees included: H.E. Domingos Fezas Vital, Ambassador of Portugal, Senators Jack Reed* (D, RI) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D, RI), Congressmen Jim Costa* (D, CA-16) and David Valadão* (CA-21), Congressmen David Cicilline* (D, RI-1) and Jim Langevin* (D, RI-2), Congressman Leonard Lance (R, NJ-7) and Congressmen Joe Kennedy III (D, MA-4) and Bill Keating (D,MA-9), among others. The reception was also attended by PALCUS Directors, Katherine Soares (Vice-Chair, NY), Marie Fraley (Secretary and Managing Director, RI), Fernando Rosa (Past-Chair, CT), Anabela DaCruz-Melo (NJ), Manuel Geraldo (Asst. Treasurer, MD), Cynthia Marques Russo (NJ) and Manuel Geraldo II (DC).

On the following day, October 26th, PALCUS directors met with caucus co-chairs to inform members about the results of the 2017 PALCUS Index National Survey, i.e. changing demographics in high population Portuguese-American districts, social and civic issues of greatest concern to respondents as well as upcoming PALCUS initiatives and events.
