Since opening in 1882, Calvary Cemetery has cultivated a unique history, rooted in the diversity of San Jose. Calvary Cemetery is home to some rich characters from the "valley of heart's delight." Some notable figures from San Jose's past are buried at Calvary Cemetery. Those better-known names include Louis Pellier, members of the Alviso, Bernal, and Berryessa families; as well as members of the Auzerais, Mirassou, Alameda, Tully, and McLaughlin clans. Sixteen Union veterans of the Civil War and hundreds of Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces are also interred at Calvary Cemetery.
Calvary Cemetery offers a variety of burial options, including spaces for cremated remains, indoor and outdoor crypts, and in-ground burials for individuals, couples, and families.
